SILCHAR: In a bizarre incident two vehicles burnt down completely on the night of Wednesday. Local people have mentioned that this was an incident of arson and unknown miscreants have set the vehicles on fire.

According to reports, a Tata Magic commercial passenger vehicle and a two-wheeler were torched by unidentified miscreants at night. The incident took place in the Sendhwa locality of the Chachar district on the night of Wednesday.

The vehicles reportedly belonged to Abdul Matib and Firozuddin and they had parked the vehicles in their garage when the incident took place. They have filed a complaint related to the incident at the local police station mentioning that unknown miscreants had managed to enter the premises and set the vehicles ablaze.

In an incident of fire that took place a few days back, Hobibul Ali (25), a resident of Kharahat 2 No Masoi Gaon near Demow lost his life after being caught in a fire that took place in a tanker used in the illegal smuggling of oil on July 26. Hobibul Ali suffered severe burns with 80 percent of his body being affected by the fire. Hobibul Ali was admitted in a hospital in Guwahati on July 27 but succumbed to his injuries on August 3.

Meanwhile, the grieving father of Hobibul Ali, Mohammad Yasin Ali had lodged an FIR in Sivasagar Police Station on Sunday night, narrating the events leading to his son’s death. According to the FIR, Hobibul Ali worked as a welder/painter in the garage of Mintu Ali, a resident of Desang Gaon. On July 26, a fatal accident occurred in Mintu Ali’s garage, resulting in Hobibul Ali sustaining severe burns. Despite efforts to save him, he died. The grieving father sought justice for his son and appealed to the officer in charge of Sivasagar Police Station to take necessary action against the owner of the garage. Hobibul Ali’s last rites were performed and his demise has been widely condoled in the area.
