DEMOW: A robbery incident took place in Debpur area near Demow on Monday night where a gang of miscreants robbed a residence in the name of ULFA (I).

According to sources, the robbery took place in the residence of Pabitra Kalita and Sarju Kalita of Otala near Demow on Monday night. Pabitra Kalita and Sarju Kalita are both teachers. A gang of four miscreants came with guns and sharp weapons on Monday night. The miscreants had covered their faces with black cloth. They robbed the house of Pabitra Kalita and Sarju Kalita and took away cash and gold ornaments. The victim family lodged an FIR in Demow Police Station. Meanwhile, the Demow Police, Nitaipukhuri Police and senior police officials from Sivasagar reached the residence on Tuesday and started an investigation.

On the other hand, the ULFA (I) in a press release sent to the media, clarified that no member of the outfit was involved in the robbery.
