BISWANATH: The dead body of an unidentified person was recovered near the railway tracks in the Biswanath region of the state on Tuesday night.

According to the reports, the person was hit by a train at around 12:30 AM between the Biswanath Railway Station and the Sootea Railway Station. The face of the victim was completely damaged in the incident, making it difficult for the authorities to recognise the person. However, photographs of many people were recovered from the possession of the dead victim.

Meanwhile, an investigation was initiated to identify the victim and find the reasons for the death.

Another occurrence of a road accident has shaken the natives of Karbi Anglong. On Wednesday morning, a road accident took place at the Kheroni Chariali Point which is a meeting point for the two connecting roads of Shillong and Hawaipur respectively. A high-speed Motor cycle has collided with a waiting JCB. The incident took place, when Sanjeev Das, a vegetable vendor was heading from the Hojai Lanka side to the Jengkha Daily Market. Sanjeev Das sustained serious injuries in the accident. He was immediately shifted to the Kheroni Hospital for immediate attention and is still under treatment. The registration number of the motorcycle involved in the accident is AS 31 A 8854 while that of the JCB is AS 09 J 5586.

In a separate incident that took place recently in Assam's Sonitpur district near the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border witnessed a tragic road mishap, resulting in the loss of two lives, including a minor. The incident occurred at the 12th Mile, where a Tata Magic vehicle with registration number AS 12 BC 4232 collided with a motorcycle bearing the number plate AS 12 AE 5492. The collision proved to be fatal for the riders involved in the motorcycle accident. One of the victims was identified as Ajay Rabha, a young individual who lost his life on the spot. The other victim, a 10-year-old boy, also tragically lost his life in the collision.
