BIJNI: The Bijni unit of the United People's Party Liberal (UPPL) celebrated the 8th establishment day of the party with a massive public rally. Thousands of people from across the region took part in this event while the Chief Executive Member of the Bodoland Territorial Council, Pramod Bodo and Asom Gana Parishad President Atul Bora addressed the massive gathering of people on the occasion.

Thousands of people from the three constituencies of the Bodoland Territorial Council falling under Bijni town of the Chirang district attended this massive rally. The main event was organised at the field of the Bijni District Sports Association Stadium. Guardian Minister Urkhao Gwra Brahma and Rajya Sabha Member Rwngwra Narzary also attended the massive rally.

Speaking on the occasion, Pramod Brahma mentioned how being an alliance partner in the state government has benefited the BTR region. He also mentioned how the region has developed rapidly in the present scenario under the support of the chief minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma and mentioned how the state is taking rapid strides towards development and becoming one of the developed states of the country.

The party also observed its 8th foundation day at Habrubari in Kokrajhar with a simple programme. As part of the programme, the president of the UPPL and CEM of Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC), Pramod Boro hoisted the flag of the party while vice president and Rajya Sabha MP Rwngwra Narzary paid floral tribute to martyrs of the party followed by cutting of cake by founder president of UPPL and cabinet minister UG Brahma. Dr Nilut Swargiyary, CEM Pramod Boro and Rajya Sabha MP Rwngwra Narzary also started the plantation of saplings.

In his speech, Pramod Boro said the UPPL came with a commitment to establish peace and ensure equal development to all people of the region. He said there had been fear and apprehension among all sections of the people and many individuals and UPPL supporters were killed due to lack of safety and security. The UPPL was born in a critical situation when no one could speak against any misdeed, wrongdoings or wrong decision of the ruling party at that time but people came to support the UPPL looking for a change in the region. He also said the UPPL had seven legislators in the Assam Assembly and a Rajya Sabha MP and it is running the BTC jointly with UPPL, BJP and GSP.
