Assam University students stage dharna in Silchar

SILCHAR: Demanding examination in online mode, a section of students of Assam University staged demonstration in front of the university gate. Since the course of the syllabus remained incomplete due to COVID restrictions, examination, if held, had to be taken in online mode, the students argued. Proctor of AU Himadri Sekhar Das urged upon the students to sit for a discussion, which they declined. The agitating students argued that since they were not under any banner, a few of them could not represent the entire fraternity. In the late evening, however, a group of students as asked by the Registrar, met the authority though the meeting remained inconclusive. The AU authorities had asked the students not to block the gate so that normal functioning could continue.
