DEMOW: Hobibul Ali (25), a resident of 2 No. Masoi Gaon near Demow, lost his life after being caught in fire in a tanker on July 26.

Hobibul Ali suffered severe burns with 80 percent of his body being affected by the fire. Hobibul Ali was admitted at a hospital in Guwahati on July 27 but succumbed to his injuries on August 3. The grieving father of Hobibul Ali, Mohammad Yasin Ali had also lodged an FIR in Sivasagar Police Station on August 6 narrating the events leading to his son’s death. Till date, the guilty in the incident has not been apprehended.

The Asomiya Yuva Mancha, ATASU, ATTSA and AASAA had organized a press meet in Demow Inspection Bunglow (IB) on Thursday morning regarding arresting the culprits involved in the Hobibul Ali incident. Jadab Gogoi, president of Asomiya Yuva Mancha (AYM) central committee said that Hobibul Ali worked in a welding garage near Desang Bridge. Sumeet Kumar Handique, joint secretary of ATASU, Sivasagar district, said that the family members of Hobibul Ali had lodged an FIR in Sivasagar Police Station but the investigation is going slowly. He demanded justice for the victim’s family.

Lalit Tanti, president of AASAA, Demow Regional Committee, demanded the culprits to be arrested at the earliest. Mohammad Yasin Ali, father of Hobibul Ali, has demanded proper investigation. The leaders of AYM, ATASU, ATTSA and AASAA demanded that the culprits should be arrested within 48 hours or they would launch a democratic protest programme.
