Tinsukia: Vivekananda
Kendra Vidyalaya (VKV), Laipuli, Tinsukia organized a 5-day activity-based
cognitive workshop- Kaushal Vikas Karyashala -recently as part of Samarth
Bharat Parva in which 28 teachers participated and prepared activities for tiny
tots.
The workshop witnessed different activities like preparation of sensory bags, basic board games for developing learning potential with different themes, block jigsaw puzzles, shape sorters for special thinking, logical reasoning, and ordering, besides some hands-on activities for eye-hand coordination like lacing, buttoning, buckling, and zipping which were prepared by teaching faculties in order to achieve samarthavan karyakartas (skilful teachers).
The samapan samaroh was held with prayer and meditation in the presence of teachers and guests. In her welcome address, Vandana Puri, primary in-charge, said that the aim of workshop was to motivate children to explore their immediate surrou-nding environment, develop their will power and concentration and to generate self-confidence. Dr Rishi Das, former vice-principal of Tinsukia College and president of Tinsukia District Journalists' Association, as chief guest appreciated the activities exhibited and efforts of the teachers and stressed the need to make the parents aware in this regard so that the children could achieve the benefits of the activities to the fullest at home. He hoped that these hands-on activities would foster the true life skills experiences in the tiny kids.
