DIBRUGARH: The walkathon organized by Swastha Hospital here on the occasion of World Arthritis Day on Thursday saw people of all ages, wearing white t-shirts and carrying banners, walking with determination and unity.

Arthritis is a joint inflammation that causes pain, stiffness, redness and swelling in joints. It often worsens with age and has turned into a major health issue for many people. Dr Diganta Das, the chief guest of the event and Consultant Rheumatologist, led the walk, emphasizing the importance of early diagnosis and effective management of arthritis.

Arthritis is not just an inevitable part of aging; it’s a medical condition that demands attention,” said Dr Das, emphasizing that one can adopt numerous lifestyle changes to battle arthritis and that weight loss and maintaining a healthy weight reduces the risk of developing arthritis and can reduce symptoms.

The event featured interactive sessions, allowing participants to consult with rheumatologists and learn more about arthritis prevention and treatment. Swastha Rheumatology Clinic’s medical team provided free joint health check-ups and answered questions.

The walkathon concluded with a touching ceremony, as participants released sky lanterns, symbolizing their hope for a future free from arthritis pain.
