MANKACHAR: A woman died of electrocution in the South Salmara-Mankachar district of the state. The incident took place in the Pipulbari locality of Mankachar of Assam.
According to local people, the accident took place when the woman had gone to take a bath. She came in contact with a live electrical wire, causing an immediate death by electrocution.
The victim was identified as the wife of one Nur Islam, a resident of Pipulbari part 3. The locality falls under the Kalapani Police Station of the Mankachar constituency. A team from the Kalapani Police Station arrived at the location of the incident and took the dead body into custody, which they later sent for post-mortem procedures. They have also started an investigation into the matter.
Previously, in the month of April, an employee of APDCL died due to electrocution in Margherita while undertaking a repair job in a transformer. According to reports, Samsul Rahman alias Bhaiti (48) of Lajum on receiving a complaint regarding failure of power supply attempted to restore the line fed from a transformer located near Margherita’s APDCL office after shutting down the power by himself. But suddenly he was electrocuted. He leaves behind his wife and three children.
And before that, three Jal Jeevan Mission Scheme employees were injured, and at least one died after being electrocuted in Assam's Sivasagar district. Sources claim that the event happened at Lakwa while JJM's personnel were repairing a water tank. The deceased Deep Dihingia, was a resident of Lepetkata. The other injured individuals has been identified as Dilip Chutia, Bakul Rabha, and Padma Chutia, who were admitted to the Brahmaputra Nursing Center in Moran. The deceased's family filed a complaint at the Moran Police Department.
