Earlier, a labourer was killed while two others were injured after getting electrocuted by a live wire in Nalbari district on Friday. The incident was reported from Bardhantali area of the district.
Such incidents are frequently reported from interior areas of the state, largely due to the negligence of Assam Power Distribution Corporation Limited (APDCL) workers and officials. There have been reports of high voltage electricity wires being carried to people's houses for electricity connection by means of bamboo poles and sometimes even high trees, leading to people being electrocuted after coming into contact with such live wires.
There also are incidents reported where such high voltage wires break and fall to the ground, leading to the loss of human and animal lives after they come into contact with these wires.
