Assam: Woman Kills Mother-In-Law Over Family Dispute in Nagaon District

GUWAHATI: In a shocking incident, an elderly woman was allegedly killed by her daughter-in-law in a village called Jajri in Nagaon's Batadrava constituency on Tuesday.

According to reports, the victim identified as Sofiya Khatun was brutally attacked by her daughter-in-law Shamsul Neha with a hammer over a family dispute.

Meanwhile, the victim died after sustaining severe injury.

Notably, the villagers detained the accused and informed the local police. Later, police reached the spot and arrested the accused daughter-in-law Shamsul Neha.

On the other hand, the court of Additional District and sessions judge, Barpeta C Chaturvedi sentenced Kankanjyoti Das of Barpeta Dakshinhati, Barpeta for the charge of murder of his wife Pritirekha Das.

He has also been charged with a fine of Rs 3 lakhs.
