Assam: Woman kills newborn daughter in Itakhola area

JAMUGURIHAT: Sensation prevailed in the Itakhola area on Thursday when thealleged murder of a newborn girl child came to light.

According to information, one Anwara Khatun, wife of one Safikul Sekhar, a resident of Bandar Janghal area under Itakhola police station, gave birth a girl child at her residence on Thursday afternoon. Later on, she killed her newborn baby and buried the body behind her house. The neighbours noticed the incident and immediately informed the Itakhola police.

Accordingly, a team of Itakhola police reached site and recovered the body. When the police team interrogated Anwara she revealed that her husband, who stays in Bengaluru, refused to accept the newborn girl child. He was expecting a baby boy from his wife.

Police registered a case and apprehended the woman on the charge of killing her newborn daughter.
