Assam: JJM Worker Injured After Coming in Contact With Live Electrical Wire

DOOMDOOMA: A worker working for the Jal Jeevan Mission which is aimed to ensure proper drinking water supply to everyday household, was injured because of an electric shock.

The incident took place in Doomdooma when a twenty-eight-year-old worker named Dharmendra Mahal was working in his designated area. The incident took place on Sunday when he was ordered to move spoke iron materials from a godown to a truck. The materials were then unloaded at the Dhadum village for the necessary work of the Jal Jeevan Mission, and that is where the mishap took place. While unloading, the iron materials came in contact with a live overhead line and the worker received a massive jolt because of the same and received burn injuries on his head, ears and face.

Questions were raised as to how such an incident could take place. Local people and organisations also mentioned that the contractors had not followed any of the safety precautions and had put the lives of everyone at risk. The family members of the injured worker also filed a complaint against the contractor for the incident.
