Assam: Workshop for specially-abled children

JAMUGURIHAT: Assam Rifles organized a special workshop for empowering specially-abled children at Lokra under Sonitpur district on Wednesday. The camp was organized at Assam Rifles High School in Lokra under Sonitpur district as a capacity building and training workshop to support children with special needs. Children with delayed speech, speech impairment and other communication-related issues attended the camp. Children were analysed by audiologist Dr Ayub Ali Thakuria, Director, Children and Speech and Bahnni Sikha Biswas (Special Educator) Rehabilitation Centre, Goalpara. Parents were also given necessary guidance regarding various parenting techniques and methods to conduct home therapy session of their wards. A total of 28 children along with their parents were benefitted from the camp. Assam Rifles and the team of doctors received overwhelming appreciation for conducting the camp.
