TINSUKIA: The Tinsukia branch of Ellora Vigyan Manch (EVM), in association with IQAC Cell of Tinsukia College, organized a 3-day workshop on scientific temperament and empowerment for the youths of tea gardens and tea belts. The workshop began at the Tinsukia College Library Auditorium on Thursday in presence of distinguished guests and more than 150 participants. The workshop will primarily lay emphasis on education, nutrition, health and scientific temperament & superstition.
Dr Basudev Das, central EC member of EVM, deliberated on the genesis of EVM, its mission and objectives, highlighting the significance of body donation after death and ill effects of witch-hunting and sorcery. Among others who spoke on the occasion were Dr Surjya Chutia, principal of Tinsukia College, Dr Rajib Bordoloi, former principal of Women’s College Tinsukia, Anuj Tanti, general secretary of ATTSA district committee, and Monoj Roy, central EC member EVM. Earlier, Rana Kumar Changmai, president of EVM Tinsukia branch and also convenor of EVM Workshop Conduction Committee, welcomed the guests and later moderated the programme.
The 3-day workshop will feature diversified parameters encompassing social and moral aspects of the tea tribe community like education, nutrition, health, scientific temperament etc. to be addressed by Tarini Deka, Monoj Roy, Rana K Changmai, Dr Badal Ghosh, Dr Dipak Baruah and Amalya Khatoniar. The valedictory programme will be held on Saturday with a plenary session and distribution of certificates.
