Assam: World Breastfeeding Week is observed from August 1-7

JAMUGURIHAT: World Breastfeeding Week (WBW) is observed from August 1-7 every year to commemorate the 1990 Innocenti Declaration. This year, WBW has been observed with the theme ‘Let’s make breastfeeding and work, work!’

The Anganwadi workers under Naduar ICDS (Integrated Child Development Scheme) conducted an awareness campaign on Wednesday at Jamugurihat. Anganwadi workers from 229 Anganwadi centres under Naduar ICDS joined the procession. The procession was taken out from the ICDS office located at Dekasundar village here and proceeded through Jamuguri commercial centre on NH-15. The participants carried out placards, posters and shouted slogans to make people aware of the benefits of breastfeeding.
