Assam Youth Killed In Bihar’s Kishanganj By Unidentified Miscreants

GUWAHATI: An anonymous band of criminals murdered a young man from Gohpur, Assam, while he was travelling by rail from Gujarat to his hometown in Kishanganj, Bihar. He was from the Sonitpur region of Assam.

The victim Babul Baruah, who reportedly works in Gujarat for a corporation, reportedly arrived at Kishanganj Railway Station in Bihar on May 14.

Babul was attacked by a group of criminals, and he was able to communicate with his wife during the early hours of the day to let her know.

It was his last call, he admitted, because he thought his life may end at any second. After receiving the call which left her horrified, Babul's wife quickly requested assistance from the police.

The police informed the media, “On Sunday, the wife of Babul Baruah came to our police outpost and said that her husband was travelling to Assam from Gujarat, where he was employed, via train on May 12. Later, after reaching Kishanganj Railway Station on May 14, Babul made a call to his wife during the early hours of the day saying that he is being attacked by a few miscreants and that it was his last call as he may get killed at any moment. She made me listen to the call recordings of him.”

“After listening to the call recordings, I contacted Kishanganj Police to make them aware of the incident and asked if they could help us with the matter. I sent the photo of Babul and the address to the Officer-in-Charge of Kishanganj Police Station. After a few moments, we received a call back from them informing us that there is an incident of a youth being run over by a moving train, and his body was found on a railway track. They then sent us a photo asking to identify whether the body was of Babul,” he added.

Babul Baruah's body was recognized by the deceased's family. To claim the body for the funeral ceremonies, the Kishanganj Police requested that they travel to Kishanganj.

The family has been invited to travel to Kishanganj within the next 72 hours, according to the police, as the body would only be stored in the mortuary during those times.

People are now fearful and anxious about the situation, and they are debating whether or not it is safe to travel by rail.
