GUWAHATI: In an unfortunate incident in Assam's Rangiya, a youth died after his two-wheeler hit a roadside tree while he was riding from Guwahati to Nalbari.
The incident took place on Monday 21 March in the Balagaon area of Rangiya city in Kamrup rural district of Assam.
The deceased has been identified as Jayanta Kalita, a resident of Nalbari.
As per sources, the tragic incident occurred as the bike on which the young boy was travelling went off the road and rammed into a tree. He was heading towards Nalbari from the Guwahati metropolis.
After the bike hit the roadside tree, the boy fell into a nearby pond and died on spot. Locals informed the police and helped in finding the dead body of the youth Jayanta Kalita.
Later, the police officials from the nearby police station reached the spot of the incident and recovered the dead body of the youth from the pond.
Meanwhile, the body of the deceased has been sent to the nearby local hospital for post-mortem reports.
It may be mentioned that several road accidents are reported on a daily basis from different parts of Assam which results in great loss of life and severe injuries.
There are numerous causes of road accidents including overspeeding, avoiding safety gear like helmets, driving in a drunken state, red light jumping and other distractions.
Earlier in a similar incident that took place in February this year, one man died and three others sustained injuries after a Ford Endeavour rammed into a bullet bike and an Alto Vehicle.
The incident took place near the Kamakhya temple Gate in Assam's Guwahati due to the collision between the 3 vehicles.
