NAGAON: The state-level two-day-long ‘Yuva Mahotsav’ was organized by Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan in association with Don Bosco Institute, Guwahati at Don Bosco Institute premise which concluded on Thursday. Over five hundreds participants from across the state took part in various competitions conducted by the organizing agencies. The programme was inaugurated by Zamil Hillali, secretary of Department of Sports and Youth Welfare, Government of Assam in presence of Zing Zilong, regional director of Rashtriya Sewa Yojna, Dr Hemanta Rabha, national awardee and expert of training and capacity building, ARIAS Society.

During the programme, various competitions including painting, mobile photography, group level cultural contests were conducted in various groups among the participants.

State Sports and Power Minister Nandita Garlosa attended the closing session of the event as the chief guest while local Guwahati MP Queen Oja was present as special guest in the closing session of the event. Eng Khung Guwang, regional director of Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan, Shekhar Ranjan Deb, Pramethesh Chakraborty Deputy director of Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan initiated the closing session with a brief note on the objectives of the event. The chief guest as well as other invitees presented the prizes as well as certificates among the winners of various events.

It is pertinent to mention here that Barpeta district achieved the 1st prize in group level cultural contests in the youth festival while Kamrup (rural) and Kamrup (metro) bagged 2nd and 3rd prizes, respectively in the youth festival.
