The department of Cinema and Theatre, BTC organized a culmination programme of theatre groups of BTC districts on Tuesday at Bodofa Cultural Complex to ascertain the successful outcome of theatre workshops. Four theatre groups from BTC districts presented their creative dramas in the culmination programme.

KOKRAJHAR: The department of Cinema and Theatre, BTC organized a culmination programme of theatre groups of BTC districts on Tuesday at Bodofa Cultural Complex to ascertain the successful outcome of theatre workshops. Four theatre groups from BTC districts presented their creative dramas in the culmination programme.

The culmination programme of theatres was inaugurated by the Secretary of Cultural Affairs, BTC, Dithaka Nanda Hazarika in the evening at Bodofa Cultural Complex in presence of Joint Secretary, Cultural Affairs Phami Brahma and other directors of different theatre groups. Four theatre groups from BTC districts presented their dramas in the stage which included: Embuni Lanjai Gwmanai presented by Lwrgi Theatre Group of Kokrajhar directed by Sanjib Kr. Brahma, NSD, The Rain presented by Barpeelal Chandan Group of Chirang directed by Manaj Sharma, NSD, Nwjwr Alabao presented by Rajkhumbri Theatre Group of Baksa directed by Sansuma Boro, NSD Tie Wing and Xomondar Aan Ethi Naam of Udalguri, presented by the Canvas and directed by Jayanta Rabha, NSD.

The Lwrgi Theatre Group tried to replicate the impact of an unstable environment due to climate change through Embuni Lanjai Gwmanai while the Barpeelal Chandan Group of Chirang nicely illustrated the destruction of forests with creative art. They showed how politicians try to deceive villagers and how forests are being destroyed and people are suffering due to the water. In the end of the drama, the villagers realized the terrible impact of destruction of the forest and started growing trees that finally get back rains to drink and cultivate in the field. The Rajkhumbri Theatre Group of Baksa had the strongest and talented artists and they showed the crisis of the judgment system in the society.

Talking to this correspondent, Sanjib Kr. Brahma, coordinator of the culmination programme said there had been workshops on drama in every district of BTC sponsored by the department of cinema and theatre from July 3 to July 23. One theatre group in each district with NSD degree holders supported financial help to organize the workshop on different themes. He said to ascertain the brilliant performance and product of the workshop, the culmination programme was held in Kokrajhar on Tuesday, he said, adding that many young boys and girls had participated in the workshop and acquired good skills on theatrical art.
