BAKSA: A State-based Assamese song competition will be held from August 30 at Kumarikata under Tamulpur subdivision in the district of Baksa. It will be organized by Kumarikata Gitanjali Sangeet Mahavidyalaya. The competition has been organized to keep Assamese language-culture alive. Around 20 social activists, including Raju Karmakar, Principal of Gitanjali Sangeet Mahavidyalya in Kumarikata, eminent writer Rajini Devi and Pradeep Dutta have taken the lead in organizing the competition.
Several leading cultural activists from Assam will participate in the event. The first prize carries a cash award of Rs 1 lakh. Awards will be given to a total of 10 contestants.
