A Headmaster of a primary school allegedly committed suicide at the Pakhimuri Line near Demow on Tuesday morning. According to sources, Rajkapur Panika (50), a resident of Rajmai Pakhimuri Line near Demow and Headmaster of 1051 No. Rajmai Kishan Primary School, allegedly committed suicide by jumping into the pond near his house.

DEMOW: A Headmaster of a primary school allegedly committed suicide at the Pakhimuri Line near Demow on Tuesday morning. According to sources, Rajkapur Panika (50), a resident of Rajmai Pakhimuri Line near Demow and Headmaster of 1051 No. Rajmai Kishan Primary School, allegedly committed suicide by jumping into the pond near his house. After the news spread, the reporter of a web portal, Sanjay Prasad Sah reached the site to report the news but the locals allegedly assaulted him, leaving him seriously injured.

Demow Police reached the area and rescued Sah. He was admitted to Demow Model Hospital. After primary treatment, he was referred to AMCH in Dibrugarh for better treatment. An SDRF team reached the incident area and recovered the body of the Headmaster from the pond.

A suicide note was recovered from the deceased Headmaster’s residence. In the suicide note, names of Deba Kakoty, media person Sanjay Sah and Santosh Karmakar were mentioned. Sanjay Prasad Sah and Santosh Karmakar were allegedly demanding money from Rajkapur Panika, the Headmaster, because of which he was mentally disturbed and took the extreme step. Rati Panika, wife of Rajkapur Panika, lodged an FIR in Demow Station. Based on the FIR, Sanjay Prasad Sah and Santosh Karmakar were arrested and a case has also been registered. According to sources, the Demow Police are in search of the third person - Deba Kakoty- whose name was mentioned in the suicide paper.

An executive meeting was organized in Demow Press Club on Wednesday evening. Umesh Chetia, president of Demow Press Club, presided over the meeting. In the meeting, it was decided that Sanjay Prasad Sah should be expelled from Demow Press Club. The Demow Press Club condoled the demise of Rajkapur Panika and prayed for the peace of the departed soul. The Press Club also demanded a proper investigation into the suicide.
