DHUBRI: ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh’ under Amrit Kalash Yatra organized at Dr. Bhupen Hazarika open stage at Chapor of Dhubri District, wherein maati (clay) from the 14 Gaon Panchayats and two VCDC areas under Chapor Development Block on Monday were collected.

All the clay collected from villages was mixed and kept in separate urns, which will be sent to Guwahati after October 14 and then to New Delhi to lay foundations to build altars in memory of those who laid down their lives during the country’s freedom movement.

Earlier in a similar programme a couple of days ago, thousands of people participated in the rally of ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh’ carrying clay collected from door-to-door in an earthen urn from Anandanagar, Bangalipara goan panchayat, and Lakhiganj gaon panchayat.

Chairman of State Marketing Corporation and former legislator, Dr. Ashok Kumar Singhi, led the rally that started from the gaon panchayats and came to an end at Bilasipara of Dhubri,where the urn was kept under the custody of Bilasipara Sub-Divisional Administration and sent to Guwahati.

A host of BJP party workers and distinguished and leading citizens of Bilasipara, including Ramesh Roy, Chandan Das, Panchayat Presidents Milan Nath, and Anisha Begum, participated in the concluding programme.
