MARIYANI: In a very sad incident, a youth from Assam serving in the Central Reserve Police Force has died. The reason for his death is said to be heart failure.

Identified as one Tankeshwar Das, the fallen soldier belonged to the Notunmati locality of Mariani. He was also the only child in the family and had been married for the past year. He was posted in the Anantnag district of Kashmir when he suffered from heart failure. According to reports, his body will reach his hometown on Saturday.

Earlier in the month, the first wave of floods in the state of Assam has affected many in recent times. After thousands were displaced and huge amounts of crops destroyed because do flooding, the train communication to a part of upper Assam has now been adversely affected. The rising waters have crossed the danger mark at the Namsasujan, which is located near the Lahing station in Mariani. This has led to the halting of multiple trains at the Titabor and Aamguri Junctions of the state. The Railway Protection Force and railway officials arrived at the railway bridge and later closed it for any movement.
