TINSUKIA: "Garden management needs support of all stakeholders to achieve a desirable result," said Manju Baruah, the first woman tea garden manager in Assam. She was addressing a meeting during the community festival for Hatijan cluster of Hapjan Educational Block at Hilika TE of Apeejay Tea, organized by Samagra Shiksha Tinsukia, in association with the School Management Committee and local people, on Sunday.

The community festival was held as part of the ongoing endeavour of Sarba Siksha Abhiyan (SSA) to ensure community participation in enhancing enrolment and retention in schools, particularly in tea garden areas.

A meeting was held at the premises which was addressed by Tridib Sarma Tamuli, district project officer, SSA, Romen Barai, and Manju Baruah, among others. The speakers, while dealing with different scholastic and non-scholastic areas, stressed holistic development of children along with the need to have a healthy environment in the gardens.

The day-long programme witnessed various games like musical chair, tug-of-war followed by cultural programme where artistes performed songs and dances.
