Guwahati: The Outlook Traveller on Thursday conferred the Gold Award to Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve of the state of Assam for 'Best Wildlife Destination in India'.

The Outlook Traveller honoured the Gold Award to the Managing Director of Assam Tourism Development Corporation Padmapani Bora, and the Additional Chief Secretary of Assam Tourism Maninder Singh in the Outlook Traveller Awards 2022 distributing ceremony.

Concurrently, three more Northeastern states of India have been conferred awards by Outlook Traveller. The Northeastern state that has been greeted with the Gold Award is Sikkim for its Pelling and Kanchenjunga which have been acknowledged as the 'Best Mountain/Hill Views Destination in India' along with receiving the award for 'Best Scenic Drive Destination in India' from Gangtok to Lake Tsomgo and mountain pass Nathu-La.

The two other Northeastern states of India receiving Silver Award are Meghalaya for its village Mawlynnong awarded as the 'Best Eco-Tourism Destination in India' and Nagaland for its Angami Naga village Khonoma, which is the first green village in India, has been greeted as the 'Best Offbeat Destination in India'.

Earlier in July 2022, Assam's Orang National Park and Tiger Reserve won the prestigious 2nd Annual IUCN WCPA International Ranger Award 2022. This award acknowledges the prominent work of rangers in protected areas across the globe.

Another award in April 2021 was conferred to Assam's Manas National Park for its tiger patrol team with the 'Highly Commended' certification at the International Ranger Awards 2021. Manas National Park of Assam also received the TX2 Conservation Excellence Award in November 2020, along with Bhutan's Royal Manas National Park.
