GUWAHATI: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has unveiled plans for the 'Meri Maati Mera Desh' campaign, scheduled to kick-start on September 19 across the state. The campaign aims to collect soil from every household in Assam as part of a unique initiative supported by the Central Government.

In a meeting held at the Assam state BJP office in Guwahati, preparations for the program were discussed extensively. State BJP President Bhabesh Kalita, MLAs, and other party members were present at the meeting.

CM Sarma, in his media address following the meeting, revealed the campaign's schedule. The 'Meri Maati Mera Desh' program will officially commence at the district level on September 19, with soil collection from households continuing until September 30.

Sarma emphasized, "In line with the 'Meri Maati Mera Desh' program, soil will be procured from every household in every village of Assam from September 20 to 30 this year. This soil will then be transported to the panchayat on October 2 and subsequently to the block on October 8. On October 26, the collected soil will be transported to Guwahati, and on the 28th, it will be sent to Delhi."

The Chief Minister highlighted that this initiative is a one-of-a-kind effort by the Central Government. Discussions during the meeting focused on how to provide support to the Centre during the program.
