Assam's Pabhojan Gold Tea Sold For Rs 1 lakh Per Kg

Guwahati: A rare variety of organic tea from Assam's Golaghat district -- Pabhojan Gold Tea -- was sold for Rs 1 lakh per kg on Monday.

As per reports, this was the highest bid this year at the auction center in Jorhat.

According to an official of Jorhat Tea Auction Center (JTAC), the tea was sold to Isha Tea which is an Assam-based tea brand by Pabhojan Organic Tea Estate.

''This tea variety will help in providing the finest tea blends of Assam to their customers. This tea variety is rare and will be a great experience for tea connoisseurs,'' said Bijit Sarma, Founder, and CEO, of Esah Tea.

''Our customers are all over the world and they will understand the value and taste of this variety,'' he added.

Rakhi Dutta Saikia, the owner of Pabhojan Organic Tea Estate, said, ''We have produced this rare variety of tea in just one kilogram and are happy about this record price. This price will help the Assam tea industry to regain its lost fame.''
