DIBRUGARH: Assistant Sub-inspector of Barbaruah Police Station, Purnananda Saikia was critically injured in a major road accident that occurred on August 1 near Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal's Dibrugarh residence. Saikia who received head injury was rushed to nearby hospital where his treatment is underway. According to eye witness, Dibrugarh bound ASI Saikia's car bearing registration no AS 06 X 7970 had a head on collision with another car bearing no AS06 AA 7605. The driver of the opposite car, Nipon Saikia of Katuha was also injured in the mishap and presently undergoing treatment in a local hospital. The eye witness further stated that Nipon Saikia was in inebriated condition at the time accident who lost his control and hit ASI Saikia's car.
