Asssam: North East Festival celebrated at Bodofa Cultural Complex in Kokrajhar

The two-day North East Festival, a mega showcasing of art and culture, crafts, ethnic cuisine, indigenous games, folk music and dance will be celebrated at Bodofa Cultural Complex, Kokrajhar from Tuesday.

KOKRAJHAR: The two-day North East Festival, a mega showcasing of art and culture, crafts, ethnic cuisine, indigenous games, folk music and dance will be celebrated at Bodofa Cultural Complex, Kokrajhar from Tuesday. The festival is being organized by Northeast Zone Cultural Centre (NEZCC), Dimapur in collaboration with Dularai Boro Harimu Afad (DBHA) with the support of the BTC government.

On Tuesday morning, the exhibition, food and craft stalls would be inaugurated by EM of BTC Reo Reoa Narzihary while the competitions of indigenous sports will be inaugurated by Dithaka Nanda Hazarika, secretary, BTC followed by Loka Sangam, a presentation of folk dances from ZCC) will be inaugurated by Phami Brahma, Joint Secretary-cum-CHD, Cultural Affairs, BTC. The Chief of BTR Pramod Boro will be present as the chief guest of the inaugural function.

On the second day, MLA Larence Islary will inaugurate the ‘Ashta Lakshmi Rangoli’, a presentation of folk dances of Northeast followed by ‘Colours of Bodoland’, a performance of folk & tribal dances of BTR, children special. The programmes will also be attended by Dr. Surath Narzary, president of the Bodo Sahitya Sabha (BSS) while Minister Urkhao Gwra Brahma will be the chief guest of the concluding ceremony where EM of BTR Wilson Hansda, MLAs Jayanta Basumatary and Jiron Basumatary and ABSU president Dipen Boro will be present as special guests.

Talking to media persons, the Director of NEZCC, Dimapur, Prasanta Gogoi said the NE Festival would be a big showcase of ethnic cuisine, folk music and dance, traditional sports, tribal art and crafts. He said the two days’ colourful programmes would be a centre of attraction. He thanked the government of BTR for supporting the NEZCC for organizing this mega event in association with the DBHA.
