GAURISAGAR: Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Saturday attended the National Unity Day programme at the Boarding School playground at Sivasagar and received guard of honour from the unity parade held on the occasion.
Total eight teams participated in the parade organized by Sivasagar district police, which included 159 Battalion of CRPF, CISF team stationed at ONGC, Nazira asset, 1st, 3rd and 25th Battalion of Assam Police, Sivasagar and Jorhat district executive force and the band platoon of Assam Police stationed at Ligiripukhuri, Nazira. Commander Anupjyoti Bora led the parade.
Emphasizing that the motto of 'Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat' propagated by Iron Man of India, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel must be followed by every Indian to uphold the country's unity, integrity and sovereignty, Sonowal highlighted how Prime Minister NarendraModi had been working relentlessly towards making India stronger in all aspects following Sardar Patel's path. He also said that the State Government had also been working to nurture a generation committed towards the nation. An atmanirbhar Assam can be built through determination and hard work and will power is necessary to utilize one's potential fully for the betterment of the society, he added. MP Tapan Kumar Gogoi, MLA KushalDuwori, DIG Assam Police Eastern Range Siva Prasad Ganjala, Sivasagar Deputy Commissioner LakhinandanGogoi and Sivasagar Superintendent of Police Amitabh Sinha were present in the programme.
