ATSU stages protest to demand revival of Nagaon and Cachar paper mills

JAGIROAD: The All Tiwa Students' Union (ATSU) Jagiroad and Deosal units, in association with Nagaon and Cachar Paper Mill Workers' Union, staged a protest rally on Monday demanding early revival of the mills.

The student leaders, while criticizing the State and the Central governments, urged upon them to implement the promises made during election campaign. They also said that the government was turning a deaf ear to the basic needs of the employees of both the mills who are not getting their salaries since the last couple of years. The issue is now at the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) court and if the government does not take any appropriate measures, both the public sector undertakings may be handed over to some private parties, thereby threatening the survival of the employees, they said.
