LAKHIMPUR: Unemployment is a serious problem in the country. The problem has assumed the status of an alarming threat in the State with the return of thousands of youths working in other States due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the three-month long lockdown initiated in order to contain the pandemic.

Under such circumstances, realizing the need of the hour, the Obonori Min Palon Samabai Samiti under Subansiri area of Dhakuakhana subdivision has initiated a special attempt to address the burning problem to some extent. With this objective, the Obonori Min Palon Samabai Samiti has started an integrated fish rearing farm under which fish seeds will be produced and piggery and poultry will be reared simultaneously. The project will provide employment opportunity to unemployed youths.

Adviser of the Samiti, Padma Losan Doley said that at least 3,000 families directly and 10,000 families indirectly would be benefitted from this integrated fish farm. "Centering round the aspiring project covering a plot with hundred bighas of land, a tourist complex will also be created," he added.

At present, the Samiti has already started rearing three quintals of fish seeds in a fishery pond covering 20 bighas of land. On Tuesday, this fish rearing project was inaugurated by Mising Autonomous Council (MSC) chairperson Sunil Kumar Pegu. Member of No.
