Avoid mass gatherings during festivals: Cachar DC Keerthi Jalli

SILCHAR: The Cachar District Administration has urged everyone to avoid mass gatherings during festival times in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic.

In an order issued to this effect on Friday, Deputy Commissioner cum Chairperson, District Disaster Management Authority, Keerthi Jalli urged everyone to shun mass gatherings during the festivities in view of COVID-19 pandemic situation.

The order stated that not more than five persons which include a priest and four worshippers would be allowed in places of worship and all COVID-19 protocols have to be followed strictly. It further stated that all religious and political gatherings would continue to remain prohibited until further orders.

"Anybody violating the same is punishable under relevant sections of the Disaster Management Act, 2005 and other sections of IPC," the order warned.
