GAURISAGAR: Assam Agriculture University (AAU) Zonal Research Centre North Lakhimpur organized a day-long training-cum-awareness meeting on use of solar fencing & e canon for vegetable pest management in Agriculture at Nakatani Kalugaon on the outskirts of Gaurisagar in Sivasagar district on Friday.
Dr Prabal Saikia, Chief Scientist, Regional Agri research Centre, Garumora, North Lakhimpur took part in the training as a resource person. Hiren Dutta, an environment activist anchored the whole programme. In the training programme, Dr. Saikia and his team demonstrated various tools to flee the harmful insects, birds and animal from agriculture field.
Dr Saikia also emphasized reflective ribbon, to control harmful birds in agriculture field, rate plate ,e-canon, eco gun to control rate and monkey disturbance respectively in agriculture field. They also distributed reflective ribbon, rate plate ,e-canon, khanti etc among the cultivators.
A total of 42 farmers participated in the training programme. Anurag Saikia, a student of AAU were also present in the training. Earlier, Dr.Saikia also inaugurated Agri Solar and Net fencing initiated by Agriculture Research Centre, Garumora, North Lakhimpur in the house of Chaitenya Neog and Sunil Neog, both residents of Nakatani Kalugaon, Dikhowmukh to get rid of monkey menace.
