To commemorate the Earth Day, the Department of Botany, Tinsukia College, in collaboration with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell of the college, held an awareness meeting on Friday at Bipin Bora High School Tinsukia.

TINSUKIA: To commemorate the Earth Day, the Department of Botany, Tinsukia College, in collaboration with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell of the college, held an awareness meeting on Friday at Bipin Bora High School Tinsukia.

Assistant Professors of the Botany Department, Pinky Gogoi and Prerona Doley addressed the students and gave interesting speeches on the history of Earth Day, its importance and our duty, besides the main factors behind the celebration of Earth Day, in their deliberations. The meeting was attended by hundreds of students and teachers of Bipin Bora High School. The programme was moderated by the teacher of the school, Deepak Dahal.

A short speech on Earth Day by Suraj Das, a student of Grade X earned appreciation from all. On behalf of the college, the programme was attended by Dr Monika Das, Mayuri Sharma Baruah, Biswadeep Doley, Daimu Basumatary and Dr Sharadindu Bordoloi. The programme concluded with the plantation of a peach fruit seedling by the headmistress of the school, Juri Gogoi that was presented as a gift to Bipin Bora High School by Tinsukia College.

Meanwhile, a blood donation camp was organized for 8th consecutive year at Tinsukia College which was organized by Marwari Yuva Manch, Tinsukia branch in collaboration with Tinsukia College Students’ Union, NSS and NCC. The camp held under the supervision of Tinsukia Civil Hospital Blood Bank was officially inaugurated by the Principal of the college Dr Surya Chutia. A total of 44 people donated blood, including teachers.
