DHUBRI: A senior Medical and Health Officer of Dhubri district, Dr. Joydip Bhattacharjee, in an awareness meeting on Coronavirus, opined that there was nothing to panic and be scared of the virus which had mainly spilled over to other parts the world from China.

Dr Bhattacharjee was speaking in an awareness meeting on the Coronavirus organized jointly by Colleague, an NGO with Dhubri SBI Pensioners’ Association at Green Nursery School on Tuesday. “There is no reason to be afraid of this virus. The death rate of this disease is 2.5 percent much below that of Japanese Encephalitis, which is about 7 percent. Coronavirus is very contagious. Keep on washing hands, especially at regular intervals and after every short journey,” said Dr. Bhattacharjee.

Dr. Bhattacharjee further said that the symptoms of the disease were fever, headache, lethargy, and cough. Secretary of Colleague, Madhab Chandra Paul while explaining the objective of the awareness programme on Coronavirus, said that this virus had created a great deal of concern among the people as there was rumour doing the rounds that no medicine had been discovered to treat the patients affected by this virus.

“This is also a fact that a large number of people across the world got affected by Coronavirus and many people died too. An awareness programme is the need of the hour so that people can stay protected from this deadly virus,” Paul said.
