Awareness Meeting On Solid Waste Disposal By Doomdooma Municipal Board

DOOMDOOMA: To create awareness about implementation of Solid Waste Management (SWM) Rule 2016, Doomdooma Municipal Board organized a representative meeting of the leading citizens of the town on Wednesday with chairman Dulu Arandhara in the chair.

MLA Durga Bhumij and Circle Officer (Attached) Barsha Duarah were also present in the meeting besides the Ward Commissioners. Assistant Engineer Nirod Deka made a power-point presentation to explain the action plan for collection of waste material on house-to-house basis and its subsequent disposal at the treatment site on a scientific manner. The municipal body will engage a third party -Swizerland Scat Consulting Limited- for the purpose so as to make the town polythene-free soon.

The municipal body will distribute domestic bins to each household and it will be the duty of the household to segregate the waste materials into two categories -bio-degradable and non-bio-degradable - and use two separate bins for that. The municipal body personnel will collect it from the doorsteps of the each household and dispose off the same at the treatment site as bio-degradable and non-bio-degradable wastes as per SWM Rules 2016. The waste will be recycled to produce by-products like manure. The municipal body has fixed up Rs 50 for each household and Rs 500 for hotel/restaurants as collection charge.
