BONGAIGAON: An awareness generation programme related to 'Assam Rights to Public Service Act and Rules' under World Bank financed Assam Citizen Centric Service Delivery Project was held on Tuesday in the old conference hall of the DC's office, Bongaigaon with an aim to generate awareness regarding the Assam Right to Public Service Act, 2012 &( A) 2019 and the notified public services that can be availed under this Act within a stipulated time period.
Assistant Commissioner Munmi Saikia and Assistant Professor of Bongaigaon College, Dr.Phatik Ch. Kalita attended the awareness programme as master trainers. While speaking on the topic during his power-point presentation, master trainer Dr. Kalita presented a precise overview of the services to be delivered under this Act and the process of appeal, related rules and other concerning issues.
Initially the Assam Government passed the Right to Public Service Act in 2012 to help citizens access 55 services in a time-bound manner and to create a formal appellate process in the case of non-compliance. The Act was further amended in 2019 and the Act now covers more than 400 various notified public services to the people of Assam within the stipulated time limit.
Through the awareness event, an appeal was made to all attendants to take possible initiatives from their end to spread the information among various masses so that the public can be benefitted at a greater range. The awareness programme was attended by the representatives of various print and digital media of Bongaigaon Sadar, officers and staff concerned and general public.
