Awareness programme on child marriage held at conference hall of Borpam Tiniali

JAMUGURIHAT: An awareness programme on child marriage convened by the Village Defence Party, Borpam was held at the conference hall of Borpam Tiniali on the northern part of Sootea on Friday with Niranjan Saikia, principal of Dalanguri HSS in the chair. Dr Dulumani Saikia, SDMO, Biswanath subdivision Civil Hospital and Shyamal Jyoti Saikia, officer in-charge of Sootea police station graced the awareness programme as resource persons. Both the resource persons spoke on the adverse effects of child marriage and other legal provisions. The programme was also attended by Gautam Mahanta, Circle Organizer of Biswanath Circle of VDP, Kandarpa Hazarika. Meritorious students who have passed the recently declared HSLC and HS examinations were felicitated by the organizers with citation, gamosa and a packet of books.
