DOOMDOOMA: At the initiative of social worker Anthoni Bongkar and with active cooperation of a Tezpur based NGO - PAJHRA, a COVID-19 awareness programme was launched from September 7 to September 10 in seven tea gardens - Samdang, Beesakopie, Daimukhia, Rupaisiding, Deamoolie, Baghjan Daisajan, Khobong and Mankhowa- under Doomdooma circle of Tinsukia district.
Along with this, a few food items were also distributed among the poor people. Under this programme, the tea labourers were apprised about the various safety measures to be taken to protect oneself from the transmission of coronavirus. On the other hand, under humanitarian assistance programme, 5 kg rice, 1 kg dal, 1 kg potato, one packet salt and one soap were distributed to each of the 713 families of these tea gardens.
