TINSUKIA: An awareness programme on the Rights of Children with Disabilities was held at Tinsukia Zilla Parishad conference Hall on Friday.

The programme organized under the aegis of Assam State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (ASCPCR), was addressed by Dr Sunita Chengkakoty, chairperson of ASCPCR. She dwelt at length on the rights of divyang children. She also pointed out that the rights of divyang should not be curtailed and it was the responsibility of every citizen of society to ensure equal rights.

Dr Gauri Sankar Gogoi, Joint Director Health Tinsukia, elaborately discussed about Unique Disability ID and also pointed out the steps initiated for divyangs in the Tinsukia district. The programme was attendant by officials from Child Development Project, gaon panchyat presidents and members, Anganwadi supervisors, SSA and others. The Deputy Commissioner of Tinsukia, Narsing Pawar stressed the importance of early detection of divyang children.
