Tezpur: A day-long awareness programme on World Soil Day was organised by KVK, Sonitpur, Napam on Thursday. The programme was inaugurated by Arifa Momtaz Begum, Subject Matter Specialist (Community Science). Namita Dutta, Subject Matter Specialist (Soil Science) discussed, ‘The importance of soil health management and Soil Health Card’, and asked the card holders to apply all the required nutrients as per the recommendation provided in the soil health card (SHC).
A lecture was also delivered by Sanjukta Saikia, Subject Matter Specialist (Plant Protection) on ‘Importance of organic farming and organic inputs in agriculture’. The farmers were also shown the importance of vermicompost and azolla in soil health management. About 50 farmers from nearby villages participated in the programme. Roji Chutia, Subject Matter Specialist (Agronomy), Sarmistha Borgohain (PAC), APART officials and other KVK staff were also present in the programme.
GAURISAGAR: Along with the rest of the State, World Soil Day was observed at Jhanji Moranchiga village under the aegis Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Sivasagar on Thursday. In this connection, an awareness meeting was held where a good number of participants took part. Dr. Trishnali Saikia, senior scientist of KVK, Sivasagar briefly narrated the objective of the day.
In the programme, Lalit Chandra Das, District Agriculture Officer (DAO), Sivasagar took part and appealed the farmers community to aware about their soil health. In his speech, District Veterinary and Animal Husbandry officer (DVO), Sivasagar, Akshya Bhat Keshri opined that the health of soil is inevitable to keep the health of human body.
