The Axam Xahitya Xabha (AXX) organized a seminar on Professor Prachyavidyanava Dr Moheswar Neog under the joint aegis of Dr Maheswar Neog aru Asamtatta Gaveshana Sansthan, a research institute, and the department of Assamese, Jhanji Hem Nath Sarmah (HNS) College, on Wednesday at the college seminar hall on the occasion of the 28th death anniversary of Dr Moheswar Neog.

GAURISAGAR: The Axam Xahitya Xabha (AXX) organized a seminar on Professor Prachyavidyanava Dr Moheswar Neog under the joint aegis of Dr Maheswar Neog aru Asamtatta Gaveshana Sansthan, a research institute, and the department of Assamese, Jhanji Hem Nath Sarmah (HNS) College, on Wednesday at the college seminar hall on the occasion of the 28th death anniversary of Dr Moheswar Neog.

The day-long programme started with planting of saplings by Jyoti Prasad Gogoi, former president, ACTA, at the college premises. Later, the seminar was held under the chairmanship of Dr Ratul Borah, Director, Dr Maheswar Neog Aru Asamtatta Gaveshana Sansthan. Addressing the gathering as well as to the student community, Dr Ranjan Bhattacharyya, Assistant Professor of DCB Girls’ College, Jorhat said that renowned litterateurs like Dr Bani Kanta Kakoty, Dr Moheswar Neog, Dimbeswar Neog, Benudhar Sarmah, Dr Satyanendra Nath Sarmah, Tirtha Nath Sarmah among others had contributed to Asamology.

Emphasizing the personality and literary achievement of Dr Moheswar Neog, Bhattacharyya said that the exercise of Asamology of Dr Moheswar Neog can segregated into three parts like study of Sankardeva, the land, culture, rediscovering of history and its publicity and study of history in Assamese litterateur.

Earlier, Nabanita Borah, Professor and head of the Department of Assamese, Jhanji HNS College, gave her welcome speech. Dr Girish Hondique, vice President of AXX also spoke a few words.
