LAKHIMPUR: As part of the ongoing government initiative 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan', coinciding with 'Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav', the cadets of 10 Assam Battalion, NCC participated with enthusiasm and vigour to clean the plastic waste along the river bodies in particular to spread the message of 'Clean India, Green India'.
For a week, the cadets made a deliberate effort to sensitize and mobilize the support of the local populace in preventing river pollution, water bodies through one-on-one contact, and also educate the target population about measures for conservation and impact of plastic pollution.
During the week, which ended on Saturday, around 1000 cadets of the unit participated in the campaign. The cadets were also joined by NCC Alumni, ANOs and permanent instructor staff of the unit. Waste collected during the campaign along the Brahmaputra River was handed over to an NGO Aagrah for recycling and disposal in an environment friendly manner.
During the campaign, drawing, essay writing, poster making, article writing, poetry, debate, etc were also conducted at various schools and colleges of 10 Assam Bn NCC.
