TINSUKIA: Following declaration by Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, two one-man committees were constituted to assess the impact of loss and damages, besides other pertinent issues, due to the oil well blowout on May 27 and subsequent fire on June 9 at Baghjan under Doomdooma Circle. While one committee will be headed by MK Yadava, Additional PCCF & CWLW, the other will be headed by Maninder Singh, Additional Chief Secretary, Government of Assam.

In pursuance of the order, the Tinsukia district administration has issued two public notices asking general public to register their complaints in terms of information, photographs and views either by email- onemancommitteemky@gmail.com/ onemancommittee@gmail.com or personally at Room No. 8 Circuit House Tinsukia between 11 am to 4.30 pm before June 24, 2020.

While the one-man committee headed by MK Yadava will look into the losses inflicted on wildlife, biodiversity, water and air qualities, forest and environment; the one-man committee led by Maninder Singh will inquire into causes of fire, the circumstances under which the incident took place, examine the persons responsible for the incident and also formulate modalities for the non-recurrence of such incidents in the future.
