BAKSA: Deputy Commissioner of Baksa, Ranjan Sarma inspected the broken embankment of Kaldia River in Bangaon under Jalah revenue circle along the Indo-Bhutan border on Wednesday.
During his visit, Deputy Commissioner Ranjan Sarma ordered Executive Engineer of the Water Resource Department, Jiten Das to expedite the repair work and to accomplish the same before flood. The repair work of the embankment, which was washed away in last year's flood, has already started with a project estimate of Rs 90 lakh under the State Disaster Relief Fund. The work will be completed within one-and-half months, said the Executive Engineer.
The Deputy Commissioner also inspected the soil erosion of Pagladia River near Balachuba under the Baganpara revenue circle. He took stock of the protection work done by the Water Resource department. Meanwhile, the department has already used bamboo fence, tree branch and concrete porcupine for the protection of the embankment. Deputy Commisioner Sarma asked the Executive Engineer to take fruitful measures to protect the embankment as well as people residing near the bank of the river.
