KALAIGAON: A bamboo bridge at Bhehguri village connecting Mekenzi road to Rupatal under PWD division of Udalguri was inaugurated by Kaberi Rang Pi Pi, Circle Officer of Kalaigaon revenue circle in presence of the contractor engaged with the work Bulbul Hoque on Saturday.

According to locals, the Noa river has overflowed due to heavy rainfall and flooded these areas recently. Consequently, the bridge on the road from Bhehguri connecting Mekenzito Rupatal has been also washed away by the floods on June 16 and vital communication link had been cut-off totally. After that, Circle Officer Kaberi Rang Pi Pi visited areas like Bhehguri, Ruptal and Balipara and directed the authority concerned to rebuild a bamboo bridge.

Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner of Udalguri Dr P Uday Praveen also monitored the situation and asked the authority of the all departments of Udalguri to take necessary action immediately in the flood-affected areas.
