Guwahati: In a sensational revelation made by a Bangladeshi national, it has come to light that the illegal foreign nationals are crossing the border just very easily simply on paying a certain amount as a bribe. A recently caught 27-year-old Bangladeshi national from Assam’s Dhubri district has confessed that he had to pay the Border Guards Bangladesh an amount of more than Taka 4,000 (Rs. 3,276.80 ) for availing a clear passage to the Indian land.
The arrested Bangladeshi national, Aynul Haque, was caught early in the morning on Wednesday. He was seen moving around the Chagolia area of Dhubri in a suspicious manner which made the locals inform the police.
As stated by Assam police inspector Bidhan Basumatary, the detained Bangladeshi person belongs to Sundariya village of Thakurgaon district in Bangladesh. The person’s father’s name is Mohammed Sarifuddin Sheikh.
The sensational statement made by the arrested Bangladeshi person has now cleared many things about the illegal infiltration of foreigners to Assam every day. When the Border security guards only can be corrupt and let illegal people enter the Indian land just of the payment of a few bucks, how can one think of protecting the country from illegal immigrants!
According to Haque’s statement, he and 10-11 other Bangladeshi national had entered India in March 2013. They entered India through a border point at Malda district in West Bengal. They were being asked to pay bribes by the Border Guards Bangladesh personnel and had to pay 4,200 in Bangladeshi currency to Border Guards Bangladesh personnel.
Haque further states, “From West Bengal, I went to Delhi, Haryana and Rajasthan where I worked as a labourer. I got in touch with a girl from Assam’s Bongaigaon district over the phone and married her. We have a child.”
This has also been confirmed that the Bangladeshi national had procured a Permanent Account Number (PAN). His statement of marrying an Assam girl too is true as it is found in an investigation that Haque married Sarifa Begum who is a resident of Bijni in the northeastern state’s Bongaigaon. He has a two-year-old son from his marriage with Sarifa.
