DIBRUGARH: In response to a call given by United Forum of Bank Union, the bank employees of Dibrugarh on Friday took out a massive rally here in protest against the Union Government's bid to bring the Bank Privatization Bill in the winter session of the Parliament.

The rally passed through the major arteries of Dibrugarh Road. The two-day bank employees' agitation against the government's move to change status of banking sectors of the country, which started from Thursday, concluded on Friday. The entire banking system came to a standstill as a result of the agitation causing tremendous difficulty to customers.

Bank employees, while talking with media persons, expressed their apprehension that the Union Government, by introducing the bank privatization bill in the forthcoming Parliament session, would hamper the general customers' right to deposit and withdraw any amount from his/her personal account.

The owner of private bank will naturally think of his own interest and profit which will be detrimental to the public," the bank employees asserted. They also appealed to the government not to bring the bill in the Parliament considering the greater interest of the general public.
